ABOUT US:

Irving School is one of two elementary schools located in Derby, CT and home of the Wildcats. Our diverse school community serves approximately 350 children in grades K-5. The school was built in 1953 and underwent additions and major renovations in 1995 to accommodate the growing school population. Irving school consists of 21 classrooms, an art room, music room, library, media/technology lab, cafeteria, gymnasium, and 2 children's playgrounds.

We celebrate the diversity and culture of our students. At Irving, we have over 20 different countries proudly represented at our school. We are intentional about developing an appreciation and awareness of the many different cultures in our global society by hosting monthly performances, presentations and puppet shows, providing a rich selection of multicultural texts, and celebrating our annual International Night where students dress in their native heritage and share songs and dances from their country.
